Flagstaff, Arizona

I live in Flagstaff, Arizona. When I say that most people think, "Oh you live in a desert where it's hot." No, not exactly. The elevation here is 7000+ feet, depending on where in Flagstaff you live. This is higher than the "Mile High City of Denver, Colorado".

It is also considered one of the "cool" parts of Arizona. That's because the high temperatures here reach a maximum of about 100 degrees F where the highs of Phoenix can reach over 120 degrees F. It does get hot here, but it is much cooler than Phoenix.

There is also more precipitation. The climate is called alpine which is semi-arid, but we get enough snow and rain to have large forests. When we get enough snow they can even open the Snow Bowl for skiing.

So, when someone says that they are from Arizona, don't assume they live in a desert. Not all of Arizona is desert.
